Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have neutralised 15 terrorists, including two prominent ISWAP Qayids, Abu Musanna and Hassan Abu Huraira, during an intelligence-led operation in the Kerenoa region of Borno State.
The successful strike took place at approximately 9:20 PM on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, when the Air Component of OPHK targeted insurgent structures in Kerenoa, situated within the Marte Local Government Area. The mission was executed following actionable intelligence that pinpointed active insurgent movements and logistics gathering in the general area.
Subsequent Battle Damage Assessment confirmed the deaths of 15 fighters, prominently featuring commanders Abu Musanna and Hassan Abu Huraira, while the local ISWAP Wali, or governor, sustained critical injuries during the bombardment. Secondary explosions recorded at the scene further indicated that the targeted facility was being used as a vital logistics hub for storing Improvised Explosive Device materials.
In an official statement released on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Media Information Officer for Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) OPHK, confirmed the details of the operation.
He noted that the precision bombardment forms part of OPHK’s sustained, intelligence-driven air offensive aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities, dismantling their logistics networks, and clearing insurgent hideouts across the theatre. Captain Goni emphasized that the Joint Task Force will maintain its coordinated air and land momentum against terrorist elements in the North East to fulfill its mandate of restoring lasting peace and security to the region.
