The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation has called for a wide-range investigation into Monday’s ATR-42 military aircraft crash in Ondo State which claimed 32 lives.

This organisation made the call in a statement issued by its Director of Strategic Communications, Richard Ihediwa, on Tuesday in Abuja. NAF ATR 42 aircraft had, on Monday, crashed in the riverside town of Igbokoda in Ondo State, killing all the 25 personnel on board.

While commiserating with the grieving families and the military establishment, the organisation, however, said that a thorough investigation would be required to uncover the cause of the tragic incident.

“Nigerians will recall how in August 2023, a Nigerian air force helicopter crashed in Shiroro, Niger, during a casualty evacuation mission of wounded troops,” it said.

According to the organisation, ensuring proper training, enhanced equipment and the overall welfare of military and security personnel must be treated as a top national priority.

“Indeed, given the resources available, our military ought to be among the best equipped and remunerated across the world,” it stated.

The organization, while expressing profound grief over the incident, saluted the gallantry, patriotism and sacrifice of the nation’s service personnel.

“In any event, the MDPCO salutes the patriotism, professionalism, gallantry and sacrifice of our military and other men and women in uniform who continue to give their all for the security of our nation,” it said. The organisation called on Nigerians to continue to pray for the country, particularly the military.

It assured Nigerians that equipping, training and the general wellbeing of the military and other security agencies would be given top priority under a Makinde-Daura ‘Reset Nigeria’ presidency.
