A traditional ruler in Kwara State has finally regained his freedom after spending a grueling two months in the custody of terrorists, following the payment of a hefty ransom by his family.

The monarch, whose identity is being protected for security reasons, was abducted from his palace two months ago in a daring raid that left the local community in shock.

According to family sources, the kidnappers initially demanded an astronomical sum, leading to weeks of intense and agonizing negotiations. Left with few options as the monarch’s health deteriorated in captivity, the family eventually managed to raise and “cough up” millions of naira to secure his release.

The traditional ruler was held for exactly 62 days under harsh conditions. While the exact figure has not been officially disclosed by authorities, family sources confirm it ran into tens of millions of naira.

The monarch was dropped off at a secluded location late last night and is currently receiving medical medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the release but reiterated its official stance against the payment of ransoms to criminal elements. An investigation into the tracking and apprehension of the kidnap syndicate is reportedly ongoing.
