The Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State has commenced the evacuation of refuse illegally dumped along the Oduduwa Road corridor in Oworonshoki as part of efforts to improve environmental sanitation and public health.

The council, in a statement on Thursday, said the exercise was being carried out by its environmental services team in line with the directive of the Chairman, Mr Moyosore Ogunlewe. It added that the clean-up, which began on Wednesday at Akewusola Junction, would continue until Friday, covering Car Wash Bus Stop and Adebanwo Junction.

Ogunlewe said the exercise underscored his administration’s commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy environment. He warned that anyone caught dumping refuse indiscriminately on roads or in public places would face sanctions in accordance with the law.

The chairman urged residents, traders and business operators to patronise approved waste disposal operators and avoid practices that degrade the environment. He also commended the environmental services team for its dedication to keeping the council area clean.

He assured residents that the administration would sustain routine sanitation and enforcement across the local government, stressing that a clean environment was essential to protecting public health and improving the quality of life in the community.
