The Super Eagles of Nigeria will commence their training camp in Uyo on September 1, in preparation for their 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.
A team official confirmed the development on Wednesday, stating, “The backroom staff will arrive in Uyo on September 1, and we expect most of the players to join shortly after.”
The three-time African champions are scheduled to face the Cheetahs of Benin Republic on September 7 at 5 pm at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Three days later, they will travel to Rwanda for their second AFCON qualifier, also against a 2026 World Cup qualifying rival.
Currently, the Super Eagles are without a head coach following the departure of Finidi George in June. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has yet to appoint a successor, with discussions ongoing between former Sweden coach Janne Andersson and Hervé Renard, who has extensive experience in African football, having managed the national teams of Zambia, Angola, Ivory Coast, and Morocco.
