Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia has inaugurated a digital transformational platform targeted at equipping 40,000 state and local government civil servants on e-governance tools and ICT skills.

This enthusiastic initiative not solely promises to build up the productivity of governance but also marks a momentous step towards a digitally-driven economy in the state.

Speaking at the event, Governor Alia stated that the launch of modern technological platforms was a significant empowerment of the state’s workforce.

He said: “We are building up transparency and embracing the unlimited possibilities of a digitally driven economy.

“The introduction of the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), the Benue State Geographic Information Systems (BENGIS) Portal, and the Benue Youth Startup and Innovation Support Portal are planned to facilitate government operations and foster modernization.

He explained that the training program is constructed to provide civil servants with essential digital skills, ensuring that they can adequately maneuver and utilize the modern systems.

Governor Alia said “Through this training, we are fostering a future-ready civil service that can readjust to the demands of a rapidly emerging world. This drive is an essential step in modernizing governance and strengthening service delivery across the state.”

The Governor also expressed gratitude to numerous partners, including the Digital Bridge Institute, for their partnership in presenting world-class training programs.

He highlighted how the EDMS will revolutionize record management within government institutions, while the BENGIS Portal will expedite smooth access to land management services, thereby cutting down bureaucratic setbacks for the public.

According to him, the launch of the Benue Youth Startup and Innovation Support Portal is a diplomatic measure to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit among the state’s youth.

The platform, he said, aims to produce capabilities, mentorship, and financial assistance to young innovators, contributing substantially to job creation and economic prosperity in Benue.

Governor Alia called for ongoing collaboration and investment in digital infrastructure with an appeal to both public and private associates to join in building an active, comprehensive, and innovative Benue State.

He said: “Together, let us build a digital ecosystem that empowers our youth and fosters sustainable development.”
