On Monday, August 10, 2026, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke officially commissioned the landmark Lagere Junction Flyover, the first flyover bridge in the ancient city of Ile-Ife, alongside the dualised Mayfair Roundabout to Palace Junction Road.

The inauguration ceremony took place at Lagere Junction, Ile-Ife, drawing key government officials, royal fathers, and thousands of jubilant residents who gathered to celebrate the milestone infrastructure project.

First flagged off in May 2024 and executed by Messrs. Sammya Nigeria Limited at a total cost of ₦14.938 billion, the dual-project was designed to eliminate severe daily traffic congestion around the Lagere commercial hub and transform access roads leading to the Ooni’s Palace.

Speaking during the inauguration, Governor Adeleke highlighted his administration’s focus on urban renewal while urging citizens and political parties to shun violence ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election in the state.

”Our resolve to transform Osun State’s infrastructure remains unwavering. Despite provocations from political opponents, we have deliberately avoided retaliatory actions to ensure peace and stability in the state. Don’t fight them. Use your vote to speak. Be vigilant and monitor the electoral process from polling units to collation centres—our victory will be determined by the people and God.” Governor Ademola Adeleke admonished.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, expressed immense gratitude to the state government, noting that the flyover and dualised corridor represent an unprecedented infrastructural leap for the ancient town.

”I thank the governor for this road and bridge, infrastructure we have never seen before in our ancient city. Governor Adeleke has surprised us and uplifted Ile-Ife.” said Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ooni of Ife

Also delivering remarks at the venue, the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Joseph Toriola, praised the Adeleke administration for its inclusive governance and development drive across neighboring communities:

”We want more of you, Mr. Governor. We want you to continue in office, and our people are ready to further show support for your administration.” Oba Joseph Toriola, Ogunsua of Modakeke extols.
