The Federal Government has firmly denied widespread reports suggesting that Nigerians will soon face fresh taxes on fuel and telecommunications services, insisting that no such fiscal measures are being planned or considered.
​The official clarification follows days of public anxiety and speculation over potential new levies aimed at boosting non-oil revenue. Government spokespersons addressed the rumours directly, labeling them as baseless and counterproductive to current economic stabilization efforts.
The administration stated unequivocally that there are no bills, executive orders, or policy frameworks in development to tax fuel or telecom data/calls.
Officials emphasized that the government’s current priority is to alleviate economic pressures on citizens, rather than introducing new burdens.
