Egypt’s trade with BRICS countries rose by 25.5 per cent to 36.7 billion dollars in the first half of 2026, compared with 29.3 billion dollars recorded during the same period in 2025. The figures were contained in data released by Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Egypt’s exports to BRICS countries stood at 6.6 billion dollars during the period, with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) receiving goods worth 1.7 billion dollars. India imported 868 million dollars’ worth of Egyptian products, while China and Brazil accounted for 841 million dollars and 633 million dollars respectively.
Precious stones, jewellery and related products led Egypt’s exports to BRICS markets at 1.2 billion dollars, followed by vegetables and fruit at one billion dollars. Mineral fuels and oils accounted for 844 million dollars, while fertilisers reached 552 million dollars and electrical machinery and equipment stood at 400 million dollars.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s imports from BRICS countries increased to 30.2 billion dollars in the first half of 2026, from 21.8 billion dollars in the corresponding period of 2025. China was the largest source of imports at 10.4 billion dollars, followed by the UAE with 5.3 billion dollars and Russia with 3.8 billion dollars. Mineral fuels and oils accounted for 5.2 billion dollars of imports, while electrical machinery and equipment stood at 4.6 billion dollars.
Economic and financial ties also recorded growth, with BRICS countries investing 6.2 billion dollars in Egypt during the 2024/2025 financial year, while Egyptian investments across BRICS countries reached 2.2 billion dollars. Remittances from Egyptians working in BRICS countries rose to 15.7 billion dollars in 2024/2025 from 9.8 billion dollars in the previous financial year, representing an increase of about 60 per cent.
