A coalition of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) indigenes and residents’ organisations has condemned the persistent calls for the removal of the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, describing them as unnecessary and politically motivated.
The group urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to disregard what it termed the “voices of naysayers” pushing for the minister’s sack, insisting that Wike’s tenure has brought visible progress to the nation’s capital.
Speaking on behalf of the coalition, its leader, Princess Ajibola, said the FCT has experienced a renewed sense of purpose, urgency, and direction since Wike assumed office.
According to her, the territory is no longer characterised by abandoned projects, prolonged delays, or policy paralysis, noting that decisive leadership has replaced years of stagnation.
“Since the appointment of Minister Nyesom Wike, the city has witnessed a renewed sense of purpose, urgency, and direction,” she said.
Ajibola added that residents are now seeing tangible action, courage, and results in governance, stressing that ongoing infrastructure development and administrative reforms reflect the minister’s commitment to transforming the FCT.
The coalition maintained that the progress recorded so far should be encouraged rather than undermined by calls for removal, urging the Federal Government to allow the minister to continue delivering on his mandate.
They reaffirmed their support for Wike and expressed confidence that sustained backing from the Presidency would further accelerate development across the FCT.
