The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) distributed a total of ₦2.428 trillion in revenue generated in September 2026 to the three tiers of government during its monthly meeting on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in Abuja.

The disbursement details were confirmed in an official communiqué issued by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF). The overall allocation represents a ₦90 billion increase over the ₦2.338 trillion distributed in August.

Total gross revenue accrued to the Federation Account for September reached ₦3.913 trillion. Prior to distribution, statutory deductions and allocations included ₦131.758 billion set aside as the cost of collection for revenue-generating agencies, alongside ₦1.352 trillion earmarked for statutory transfers, refunds, and savings. This left a net distributable pool of ₦2.428 trillion to be shared across all levels of government.

From the net distributable pool, the Federal Government received ₦832.242 billion, while State Governments were allocated ₦799.872 billion. Local Government Councils received ₦560.660 billion, and oil-producing states shared ₦236.049 billion as 13% derivation revenue.

The distributable sum was drawn primarily from statutory revenue and Value Added Tax (VAT) proceeds. Gross statutory revenue rose to ₦3.096 trillion in September, marking a ₦246.384 billion increase from August’s ₦2.850 trillion. Out of the ₦1.672 trillion distributable statutory pool, the Federal Government received ₦756.583 billion, State Governments got ₦383.749 billion, Local Government Councils were allocated ₦295.855 billion, and ₦236.049 billion went toward derivation funds.

Meanwhile, gross VAT receipts declined to ₦816.872 billion in September from the ₦834.843 billion recorded in August. From the distributable VAT pool of ₦756.587 billion, the Federal Government took ₦75.659 billion, State Governments received ₦416.123 billion, and Local Government Councils received ₦264.805 billion.

The communiqué highlighted mixed performance across national revenue channels during the month. Gains were recorded in Petroleum Profit Tax, Hydrocarbon Tax, Petroleum Royalties, Import Duty, Common External Tariff Levies, and Excise Duty.

Conversely, collections from Companies Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Stamp Duties, Value Added Tax, Mineral Royalties, and Gas Flared Fees experienced noticeable declines.
