The management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has expelled 42 students following investigations by the institution’s Examination Malpractice Committee. The disciplinary action was officially announced on Monday, September 21, 2026, after the Academic Board approved the committee’s findings. ​
The affected students comprise 31 Higher National Diploma (HND) and 11 National Diploma (ND) candidates spanning various academic programs. ​According to a formal statement signed and released on Monday morning by Ibrahim Esin, the Principal Assistant Registrar of the Academic Board Matters Division, the decision followed extensive panels held at the institution’s administrative boardrooms.
​”The students were found guilty of the allegations against them after due investigation by the Examination Malpractice Committee,” Esin stated. “The offences contravened the Matriculation Oath sworn to by the students upon admission into the institution.”
​Esin further emphasized that the disciplinary approvals were executed under the regulatory provisions outlined in the Polytechnic’s Students’ Handbook, permanently severing the students’ academic ties with the school. ​
The Institute of Finance and Management Studies recorded the highest rate of disciplinary action, accounting for over half of the total expulsions: of 23 students from Institute of Finance and Management Studies, Institute of Technology: 8, Institute of Information and Communication Technology: 4, Centre for Continuing Education: 4, Institute of Health Technology: 2 and Institute of General Studies. ​
Students affected were enrolled across multiple academic departments, including Mechatronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, Journalism and Media Studies, Strategic Communication, Public Administration, Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Medical Imaging Technology, and Accountancy. ​
Among the expelled HND students listed by the administration were Rasaq Faruq Tolani, Adebiyi Eniola Kofoworola, Nzekwe Domic Chibuike, Adekunle Khalid Boluwatife, Raji Abdulhafeez Opeyemi, Magbagbeola Rofiat Adesewa, Abdulrasheed Ojuolape Mariyam, and Abdullafees Khadijat Oritoke.
Expelled ND students included Ayinde Aishat, Ekunnus Fridays Sunmisola, Sanusi Fathia Ayomide, Ameenulah Idris Olamilekan, Magnus David Pelumi, and Ishola Sulyman Atanda. ​The institution has ordered all affected individuals to immediately surrender all property belonging to the polytechnic to their respective Heads of Department or face potential legal consequences.
