Mr Bamidele Fadigba, Chairman of Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti, has urged residents to desist from mistreating Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the community.
Fadigba made the call in an interview with the News source on Sunday in Otun-Ekiti.
He said that physically challenged individuals are human beings who deserve love, respect and care, and should not be subjected to ill-treatment in the community.
The chairman frowned at the attitude of some residents who abuse and treat PWDs unjustly simply because they are lame, deaf or blind.
“Persons with disabilities are human beings like us and should be treated as such. Though their condition is beyond human control, it is best known to God who created them.
“We should not discriminate against them or treat them badly because of their condition,” he said.
Fadigba warned that anyone caught mistreating physically challenged persons in the community would be arrested and prosecuted.
