These are Libyan players waiting at Port Harcourt Airport, for Saturday’s game that Nigerians won 1-0. Their flight was diverted. They made the journey to Uyo by road though there is an airport in Uyo to which their plane was booked.
We kept them in Port Harcourt for some hours, imposed a road trip on them. They complained. There was nothing wrong with that.
They delayed us for some hours – we count differently – and we refused to play. Smart us!
Shamelessly, we complained to CAF forgetting that it had not decided on Libya’s complaint. Everybody has forgotten how the Libyans got to Uyo just in a matter of days.
We would lose the three points and CAF is supposed to impose a financial punishment on us.
Next move, if we want to be serious about this, is to fish out those who took the obtuse decision that delayed the Libyans in Port Harcourt and ordered a road trip for them. Let them at least pay the CAF fine.
The players have no part in this fiasco that some people thought would hurt only the Libyans.
We move to our next mistake, at least we excel in this sphere.
