An Atlanta-based diaspora group, The Future Platform (TFP), has dismissed claims that its endorsed candidate for the 2027 Lagos governorship race, Seyi Tinubu, is assuming the responsibilities of Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The group clarified that Tinubu’s philanthropic activities are solely aimed at supporting the less privileged and should not be misinterpreted.

In a statement issued by its Director of Publicity, Afolabi Adeusi, during a media engagement on Monday – today, March 24 – the group also announced a rescheduling of its planned All-White Endorsement event from March 4, 2025, to April 12, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

“As Nigeria’s political landscape gears up for 2027, The Future Platform in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, has identified Seyi Tinubu as a promising leader,” Adeusi stated. “In recognition of his leadership qualities, the group has finalized plans for an All-White Endorsement Event to support his potential candidacy for the Lagos State gubernatorial race in 2027.”

Addressing speculations about Tinubu’s alleged involvement in vice-presidential functions, Adeusi said: “Amid growing criticism in Nigeria suggesting that his charitable work is an attempt to assume the responsibilities of the Vice President, we want to state clearly that such a claim is entirely false. Seyi Tinubu remains committed to his long-standing passion for humanitarian service, which he has pursued for over two decades, even before his father became President.”

Describing Tinubu as a “visionary and an exceptional leader,” the group expressed confidence in his ability to transform Lagos.

“Seyi Tinubu is determined to build a strong and inclusive society, transcending linguistic and ethnic differences,” Adeusi added. “His role as a bridge builder and his commitment to driving Lagos State to greater heights through community service, social development, and disaster relief efforts are legendary.”

The group further stated that Tinubu represents a “game-changer” for Lagos and assured its unwavering support for his 2027 gubernatorial ambition.
