The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced plans to conduct a comprehensive review of complaints submitted by 397 applicants who were disqualified during the recent recruitment screening exercise despite previously appearing on the published shortlist for training.
The announcement was conveyed in an official statement issued on Monday, October 19, 2026, in Abuja by the Chief Superintendent of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, CSC Abdullahi Maiwada. The review comes after affected applicants raised concerns regarding their exclusion following the publication of the final selection list.
The NCS explained that appearing on the initial shortlist did not automatically guarantee final enlistment, as all candidates were required to undergo rigorous multi-stage verification. According to the Service, the disqualifications stemmed from specific screening irregularities, including; Positive results during mandatory drug tests.
The failure to meet standard physical fitness assessments or medical clearance criteria and Irregularities identified in submitted credentials, certificates, or age verification. To address grievances and ensure fairness, the NCS has directed affected candidates who believe they were unfairly disqualified to submit their formal complaints and supporting documentation.
CSC Abdullahi Maiwada emphasized that the complaint review process does not guarantee automatic admission into the training college. He further warned that candidates found to have engaged in criminal acts, such as certificate forgery, impersonation, or submitting falsified documents, will not only be permanently disqualified but will also be referred to relevant law enforcement agencies for legal prosecution.
The Service urged all affected candidates and members of the public to remain calm, avoid third-party scams, and utilise only the official communication channels provided.
