World-leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance announced Saturday that it has successfully set aside and deployed corporate treasury reserves to purchase and replenish 90 percent of the $6.3 billion in digital assets stolen in a massive security breach earlier this week.

The heist, which occurred on Thursday, October 29, 2026, saw attackers drain approximately $6.36 billion in cryptocurrency across ten blockchains in roughly 20 minutes. Blockchain security firms, including TRM Labs and Chainalysis, have attributed the attack to TraderTraitor, a state-sponsored North Korean hacking unit.

In an update issued on Saturday morning from the company’s regional headquarters, Binance confirmed that it set aside more than $6.34 billion from its corporate treasury and the Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) to ensure platform users bear no financial losses.

”We’ve now replenished 90% of the stolen assets, and we’re committed to covering the remaining 10%. Our users will not bear the financial impact of this incident,” said Richard Teng, Co-CEO of Binance, in a statement published on X on Saturday.

Binance revealed it has already re-secured over $5 billion in major tokens, fully restoring backing for top assets including Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), BNB, Solana (SOL), XRP, RLUSD, USD1, and ZEC.

The remaining 10 percent of missing funds consists primarily of lower-liquidity altcoins. The company noted that acquiring these remaining tokens requires a more gradual approach to prevent market slippage and price manipulation.

”Our previous update noted we had covered approximately 80% of the impacted amount; that figure has now reached 90%,” a Binance spokesperson stated during a press briefing in Dubai. “Work is ongoing to restore full reserve ratios across all impacted token types.”

The breach forced Binance to temporarily suspend all deposits and withdrawals on Thursday. Working alongside international law enforcement and blockchain analytics partners, investigators have managed to freeze approximately $3 billion of the stolen funds across centralized platforms.

Addressing the suspect attribution, a Binance spokesperson added, “We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of the criminals and bring them to justice.”

While the native BNB token tumbled nearly 10% following the initial breach announcement, markets stabilized on Saturday following confirmation of the exchange’s solvency reserves. Binance expects customer withdrawal operations to resume in full over the coming days, accompanied by a comprehensive technical post-mortem detailing enhanced security measures.
