The Bauchi state government has set up a five member committee to probe management of fund allocated for the fertiliser production by the state-owned fertiliser blending plant.

The Secretary to the State Government, Aminu Hammayo, said this during the inauguration of the committee on Wednesday in Bauchi.

He tasked the committee to examine all issues surrounding the Bauchi Fertiliser Blending Plant, adding that they were mandated to recover misused or unaccounted funds, and recommend preventive measures for future operations.

Hammayo said the committee would be headed by Farouq Mustapha, Commissioner for Special Duties.

Members of the committee are Sani Umar, the Head of Civil Service, Sirajo Muhammad-Jaja, the Accountant General, Isyaku Yakari, the Auditor General, Aliyu Gital, Commissioner for Agriculture, and Mu’azu Usman, Chairman, Bauchi State Board of Internal Revenue.

Hammayo said the committee was expected to submit its report within two weeks.

Meanwhile, Gov. Bala Mohammed has approved distribution of 50 trucks of fertilisers, to enhance farmer access to the commodity.
