Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has paid glowing tribute to his immediate predecessor, the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) on his 70th posthumous birthday.

Aiyedatiwa described the late Akeredolu as a courageous leader whose ideals and commitment to justice continued to inspire.

This is contained in a statement he personally signed and made available on Tuesday to commemorate what would have been late Akeredolu’s 70th birthday.

The governor said he joined the Akeredolu family, residents of the state and admirers across Nigeria in celebrating the life and enduring legacy of the former governor.

He described Akeredolu as a leader, mentor and immediate predecessor, who led with uncommon boldness and remained unwavering in his commitment to the progress of the state.

According to him, though Akeredolu is no longer alive, the values he stood for, including courage, conviction and dedication to public service, continue to inspire generations.

“He was a man who led with uncommon boldness, defended justice without compromise, and dedicated himself to the service of our dear state and nation”.

The governor expressed gratitude for the opportunity to have served alongside the late governor, noting that the confidence, guidance and responsibilities entrusted to him by the late Akeredolu had continued to shape his approach to leadership and public service.

“I remain profoundly grateful for the opportunity to have served alongside him. His confidence in me, guidance, and the responsibilities he entrusted to me remain enduring lessons that continue to shape my approach to leadership and public service.

“As we honour his memory today, I reaffirm my commitment to building on the foundation he laid and to sustaining the vision of a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Ondo for the benefit of all our people.

“On this 70th posthumous birthday anniversary, I pray that Almighty God continues to grant him eternal rest and comfort his family and all who continue to cherish his memory.

Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON, your legacy lives on,” he said.
