The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) has suspended its National Chairman, Engr. Yabagi Yusuf Sani, following grave allegations of forgery, unauthorised manipulation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) candidate nomination portal, and anti-party activities.
The decision was finalized during an emergency NWC meeting held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 6, 2026, at the ADP National Secretariat located at Plot 590, Cadastral Zone, Area 11, Garki, Abuja. In an official communiqué issued immediately after the session, the party leadership formally communicated the interim disciplinary measure to INEC, directing the electoral body to restrict Sani’s access to all official party nomination channels.
According to a joint statement signed by the ADP National Secretary, Dr. James Okoroma, and the National Legal Adviser, Barr. Obadiah Bichi, the leadership uncovered a series of grave constitutional breaches and administrative infractions committed by the suspended chairman.
The committee detailed how Sani allegedly logged into the official INEC portal without authorization to alter candidate records, bypassing the screening committees established by the party. Furthermore, the leadership accused him of falsifying party signatures and official correspondence to submit compromised candidate lists to electoral authorities, while failing to account for funds generated from the sale of Nomination and Expression of Interest forms across multiple election cycles.
The communiqué noted that these unilateral actions severely undermined party unity and brought the ADP into public disrepute. Speaking on behalf of the committee during a press briefing at 2:00 PM at the secretariat, National Publicity Director Prince Edobor Oghosa reaffirmed the necessity of the drastic measure.
Oghosa stated that the party could not tolerate any breach of trust, forgery, or back-door manipulation of candidate lists, emphasizing that the ADP was built on transparency and constitutional order. He added that the NWC has ordered a comprehensive audit of all nomination records and party financial accounts to restore organisational integrity.
To prevent a leadership vacuum, the NWC has established an interim steering committee to manage party affairs pending the outcome of a newly constituted disciplinary panel assigned to investigate the charges thoroughly.
When contacted for comment at 4:30 PM, Engr. Yabagi Yusuf Sani swiftly rejected the suspension, dismissing the move orchestrated by Okoroma and his associates as illegal, unconstitutional, and null.
Sani maintained that he remains the legitimate National Chairman of the ADP, contending that the NWC members behind the press release lacked the legal authority under the party’s constitution to remove or suspend him from office.
