The Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Noheem Adams, has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for Eti-Osa Constituency I, securing the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 general election after defeating his challenger, Saheed Bankole, by a wide margin.
The keenly contested primary election, which was conducted across six wards in the constituency, witnessed a massive turnout of party members, supporters and political stakeholders who gathered to participate in the process that would determine the APC candidate for the next legislative election.
At the end of the exercise, Adams polled an impressive 7,638 votes, comfortably defeating Bankole, who secured 1,225 votes. The election result from Ward J, however, was declared inconclusive by electoral officials overseeing the exercise.
The results were officially announced at Olomu Primary School in Ajah, where party leaders, delegates and supporters waited anxiously as votes from the various wards were collated and verified before the final declaration.
The outcome further strengthens Adams’ political standing within the constituency and positions him for another term in the Lagos State House of Assembly as the APC prepares for the 2027 elections.
Celebration erupted immediately after the announcement, with supporters of the Majority Leader chanting solidarity songs and praising what they described as his enduring popularity and grassroots connection within Eti-Osa Constituency I.
Party faithful who spoke after the exercise said the result reflected the confidence many residents and APC members still have in Adams’ leadership style, constituency projects and legislative performance over the years.
Addressing journalists shortly after his victory, Adams described the outcome of the primary election as a true reflection of the will of party members and residents of the constituency.
He expressed appreciation to APC leaders, ward executives, supporters and voters for the confidence reposed in him, promising not to disappoint them if re-elected in the 2027 general election.
According to him, the large margin of victory demonstrated unity within the party and the determination of members to retain experienced leadership capable of sustaining development in the constituency.
Adams also called on his supporters to remain peaceful and magnanimous in victory, stressing that the primary election was an internal democratic process meant to strengthen the party ahead of the main election.
He extended an olive branch to his opponent and his supporters, urging all members of the APC in the constituency to work together in the interest of the party and the development of Eti-Osa.
Political observers noted that the outcome of the primary did not come as a surprise, considering Adams’ influence within the constituency and his visibility in legislative and grassroots activities over the years.
As Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Adams has remained one of the prominent voices within the legislature, playing strategic roles in debates, policymaking and party mobilisation across Eti-Osa and Lagos State in general.
The APC primary election in Eti-Osa Constituency I was largely peaceful despite tension in some areas, with security personnel and party officials maintaining order throughout the exercise.
