THE African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship, Abuja 2025, starts today.
Clubs from all over the African continent are already in town for a 10-day feast of the best of Volleyball taking place right in the ‘belly’ of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
The two indoor halls have been transformed, and are waiting for action to begin later today.
I am back in Abuja.
I left Lokoja this morning after an incredible and unprecedented experience in that city of great significance in the history and the geography of Nigeria. That story will be shared piece meal in my Daily Diary from tomorrow. Watch out.
Right now, I am getting ready to head to the National stadium for the opening ceremony later this afternoon. The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is the Special Guest of Honour and shall declare the championship open.
Meanwhile, the Chief Host, the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs, Alhaji Bashiru Wale Adeniyi, is pulling out all the stops to ensure a memorable experience for everyone – the players, officials and fans that will throng the stadium to celebrate Sport.
The other night, the CG demonstrated his skills in volleyball by going through the motion of jumping and serving the ball.
