A wave of frustration has swept through Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), as the university’s Students’ Union leadership issued a definitive 72-hour ultimatum to the Ondo State Government, warning of impending mass protests if the strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is not resolved.

Academic activities were brought to an abrupt halt on July 10, 2026, when ASUU-AAUA members walked out over the non-payment of May and June salaries. With final examinations suspended and graduation plans hanging in the balance, student patience has run out.
​In an official bulletin released on Monday, July 27, 2026, Students’ Union President Falagbade Greatness and General Secretary Amos Oluwatimileyin declared that diplomatic engagement with state officials had failed to produce concrete results. The union granted a 72-hour window ending Thursday for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to directly address ASUU’s demands.
Should negotiations fail, student leaders pledged to organize statewide peaceful demonstrations, blocking key transit corridors connecting Akungba-Akoko to neighboring commercial hubs.
