Operatives of the Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking intercepted approximately 3,180,000 capsules of suspected Pregabalin on Saturday, November 7, 2026, in the Sabon Gari area of Fagge Local Government Area.

The major enforcement operation took place at No. 13 Apple Avenue, Normansland, Sabon Gari, coming barely 24 hours after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf commissioned the state’s newly established Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

Acting on actionable intelligence, tactical operatives raided the targeted building, which was being utilized as an illicit warehouse, and uncovered the massive cache of prescription pharmaceuticals before they could enter local distribution networks.

During the raid, officers arrested 34-year-old Gregory Ogbuji. Preliminary investigations link the suspect to Seemark Pharma Ltd (RC: 2012546), and legal proceedings have commenced under Section 249 of the Penal Code while security agencies maintain an active manhunt for an accomplice who remains at large.

Task Force Chairman Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado raised concerns over the severe abuse of Pregabalin in the state, revealing that operational data shows approximately eight out of every 10 drug-related operations in Kano involve individuals dependent on or abusing the drug.

Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to combating illicit drug distribution without compromise, Rimin Gado urged residents to continue reporting suspicious activities through the agency’s official Command Call Centre to support the government’s “Kano First” public safety agenda.
