The Yobe State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has officially removed its State Chairman, Comrade Umaru Jajere, alongside State Secretary Mustapha Gado, following grave allegations of financial mismanagement, operational opacity, and persistent unilateral decision-making.
The decision was finalized during an emergency congress meeting convened on Thursday morning, November 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Council’s Secretariat located along Gujba Road, Damaturu. The resolution to oust the top leadership was reached following a vote of no confidence supported by two-thirds of the registered political party chairmen across the state.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the meeting at 1:30 PM, the newly designated IPAC Acting Spokesperson, Hon. Bala Mohammed, revealed that the executive members were forced to act to safeguard the council’s integrity and democratic mandate.
“For months, the removed leadership operated IPAC as a personal property, ignoring consensus building, failing to render accounts of council resources, and taking major policy stances without consulting the executive committee or member parties,” Mohammed stated.
“This council exists to foster harmony, transparency, and collaborative governance among all political parties in Yobe State. We could no longer fold our arms while those core principles were undermined.”
According to the official communiqué issued at the conclusion of the session, the congress documented multiple instances of unaccounted council funds and administrative non-disclosure spanning recent fiscal quarters.
The assembly further condemned the ousted leadership for issuing unauthorised public statements and engaging key electoral stakeholders without the knowledge or approval of the general executive committee.
To prevent an administrative vacuum, the congress constituted an interim executive committee tasked with steering the affairs of the council and liaising with national IPAC authorities until fresh elections are conducted.
The council also issued a formal notice advising the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, civil society organizations, and the general public to immediately cease all official dealings with Umaru Jajere and Mustapha Gado in their former capacities.
As of the time of reporting, neither Umaru Jajere nor Mustapha Gado has issued an official statement regarding their impeachment, though sources close to the ousted officers hint at an upcoming press conference to challenge the legality of their removal.
