The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the immediate dismissal of three senior police officers following established cases of serious misconduct and conduct unbecoming of officers of the law.
The decision was reached on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, during the Commission’s plenary meeting held at the Solomon Arase Conference Hall inside the PSC Corporate Headquarters in Abuja. Details of the disciplinary actions were officially released later in the day in a statement signed by Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Relations for the Commission.
The high-level meeting marked a major crackdown within the force, resulting in sanctions against a total of 42 officers. Beyond the three dismissals, the Commission demoted 16 officers, handed down severe reprimands to 21 others, and issued official reprimands to two officers.
Conversely, three officers were fully exonerated of all charges, while several previously suspended personnel were cleared for reinstatement into the Nigeria Police Force.
Presiding over the deliberations, PSC Chairman DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (retd.) reaffirmed the Commission’s unwavering commitment to zero tolerance regarding corruption, human rights violations, and unauthorized meddling in civil or land disputes.
DIG Argungu lauded the PSC Standing Committee on Discipline and Legal Matters, chaired by retired Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, along with board members DIG Taiwo Lakanu (retd.), Justice Christine Dabup (retd.), Commission Secretary Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, and Director of Police Discipline Mr. Ferdinand U. Ekpe, for their thorough examination and rigorous review of the disciplinary petitions.
