A fresh wave of resignations hit the administration of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday, November 2, 2026, as three high-ranking political appointees tendered their resignation letters at the Agodi State Secretariat in Ibadan.
The outgoing officials include the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Barrister Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo; Special Adviser on Political Matters and former two-term House of Assembly member, Hon. Muftau Oyeleke; and a key member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Hon. Falana.
The resignations were delivered via formal letters addressed to Governor Seyi Makinde through the Office of the Chief of Staff at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.
In his resignation statement submitted on Monday morning, Hon. Muftau Oyeleke cited a workplace atmosphere that was no longer aligned with serving his constituents.
”The working environment became unconducive to effectively pursuing and fulfilling the aspirations of my people within the administration,” Oyeleke stated in his letter, while expressing appreciation to Governor Makinde for the opportunity to serve.
In contrast, Commissioner Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo and Hon. Falana offered no explicit reasons in their official communications, simply stating their resignations took immediate effect.
The sudden departures coincide with shifting political alignments across Oyo State as political parties position themselves ahead of the upcoming elections.
Reacting to the developments on Monday evening from the Ministry of Information in Ibadan, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, downplayed the impact of the departures.
”Resignations come with the times, especially during periods of political realignments,” Prince Dotun Oyelade stated. “Governor Seyi Makinde remains unshakeable and focused on his administration’s commitments. The clear message from the governor is that conscience is an open wound and only truth can heal it.”
These latest exits follow earlier high-profile departures from the cabinet, including former Chief of Staff Segun Ogunwuyi and former Director-General of the Due Process Office, Tara Adefope.
