Key members and grassroots coordinators of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State have formally declared their support for Governor Uba Sani’s re-election bid in 2027. The cross-party endorsement was announced during a well-attended community rally on Sunday morning, November 1, 2026, at the Soba Town Hall.

The decision by the opposition members marks a significant political shift in the local council, driven by the state government’s execution of vital road infrastructure projects connecting long-neglected rural farming communities across the area.

Speaking at the gathering at 10:00 AM, Adamu Danburam, a PDP ward coordinator in Soba, stated that residents decided to prioritize visible community development over traditional party loyalties.

”I am a staunch PDP member, but for us, politics is about individuals,” Danburam said. “Although we belong to the PDP, I will vote for Uba Sani because he has done for me what the PDP could not do. Even as a PDP coordinator in my area, I will vote for Uba Sani because we should vote for someone who knows our community and has done something to improve our lives. I support him because he has constructed a road for us.”

Danburam urged the governor to sustain his administration’s current developmental pace into a second term to address remaining infrastructure challenges across the local government area.

Echoing these sentiments, community spokesperson Hassan Adamu Abdullahi highlighted the immediate economic relief brought by the newly completed road network connecting Gurundafi, Soba, and Turawa. He noted that severe road degradation previously isolated rural farmers and severely disrupted agricultural trade, particularly during the peak of the rainy season.

”Before the road was constructed, we faced serious difficulties because of the poor road network,” Abdullahi explained. “It was difficult to transport our farm produce to markets, especially during the rainy season. But now, Governor Uba Sani has constructed a road linking Gurundafi, Soba and Turawa. We can reach our destinations easily within a few minutes. We are truly grateful.”

Adding to the endorsement, community leader Mohammed assured that local residents intend to reward the governor at the ballot box in 2027 for prioritizing their economic livelihoods and agricultural productivity.

The declaration in Soba aligns with a broader, statewide infrastructure drive being executed under Governor Sani’s administration. Beyond Soba Local Government Area, the administration’s rural transformation initiative has delivered critical projects across other regions, including a 15-kilometre road connecting Kasuwar Magani to Wusar in Kajuru Local Government Area, as well as a major 23-kilometre road linking Madaci to Madakiya and extending directly into Kafanchan in Jema’a Local Government Area of Southern Kaduna.

With prominent opposition figures openly breaking ranks to back the incumbent administration, political observers note that Governor Sani’s focus on rural roads is actively reshaping traditional political alignments across Kaduna State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
