Governors of Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States have jointly urged the residents of the South-East region to reject political distractions and vote massively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The political movement gained momentum on Saturday, October 31, 2026, during the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Mega Rally and Empowerment Programme for the South-East, held at the iconic Okpara Square in Enugu.
Hosting the political gathering, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah urged the South-East electorate to support President Tinubu’s second-term bid to help consolidate the gains of the federal administration’s ongoing economic reforms.
Drawing an analogy to steadying leadership through difficult periods, Mbah remarked that “a good sailor does not abandon his ship mid-sea because of challenges” and urged the region to complete the journey started together.
Highlighting the tangible outcomes of these reforms, he pointed to federal support for critical infrastructure, including regional primary healthcare centers, and noted that over 2,000 women in Enugu State had received direct financial aid, medical bill relief, and income-generating equipment in the 48 hours leading up to the mega rally.
Echoing these calls for national integration, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru characterized the APC as a platform guided by a clear socio-economic development plan.
Dismissing rumors regarding his involvement in alternative political coalitions, Nwifuru reaffirmed his complete loyalty to the ruling party and urged women and youths across the region to mobilize support for APC candidates across all elective tiers in upcoming polls.
Speaking on behalf of Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Deputy Governor Gilbert Ibezim stated that the South-East owes a duty of support to the president’s re-election bid in recognition of federal achievements within the zone, emphasizing that continued strategic alignment with the center yields greater long-term economic dividends for the region.
The sentiment was reinforced by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, who framed the upcoming 2027 contest as a pivotal opportunity for Ndigbo to strengthen their national political leverage.
Adding legislative weight to the rally’s call to action, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu reminded the audience that the South-East has not held the country’s executive presidency in six decades, stressing the imperative of building enduring national alliances.
Kalu pointed to President Tinubu’s historic record of inclusive leadership dating back to his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, where he regularly appointed South-Easterners into key cabinet roles, and commended his current administration for establishing the landmark South East Development Commission (SEDC) to tackle the zone’s longstanding infrastructural deficits.
The high-capacity rally concluded with multi-million naira empowerment packages delivered to thousands of participating women groups across the five South-Eastern states, accompanied by coordinated pledges from regional party leaders to maintain aggressive grassroots voter mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections.
