Tragedy struck the business community in Ondo State on Friday, October 30, 2026, as prominent local businessman and owner of Esther Estate, Kayode Akinbolusere, popularly known as “Tolufe”, committed suicide inside his office located in the Igba area of Ondo Town.

The 46-year-old real estate developer was found dead in his office after ingesting a toxic substance, believed to be an insecticide. Before his death, Akinbolusere recorded a viral video serving as his final testament. In the footage, he explained that the decision was entirely his own and expressed anguish over recent business setbacks, including machine failures at his workplace.

”I am doing this video on behalf of my family. I, Akinbolusere Kayode, am doing my will on my properties,” he said in the recording. “Nobody put pressure on me… My wife stood by me when I had nothing and never for once wronged me.” He subsequently willed all his assets and properties to his wife, Esther Akinbolusere, and his three children currently residing in Canada.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Ondo State Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident and stated that law enforcement officers recovered two empty bottles suspected to contain Sniper insecticide near the scene.

”No foul play or visible marks of violence were observed on his body during preliminary examination,” DSP Abayomi Jimoh disclosed, noting that the body has been transferred to the morgue for autopsy.

Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident and urged the public to refrain from unverified speculations while advising individuals undergoing emotional distress to seek professional support.
