The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has launched a blistering attack on the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing the opposition party of failing to pay its internal staff salaries for over 12 months while questioning its administrative competence to manage Nigeria’s national affairs ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The allegations were delivered in a press statement released on Monday, October 26, 2026, from the APC Presidential Campaign Headquarters in Abuja by the campaign council’s chief spokesperson, Dele Alake.

Addressing newsmen at the briefing, Alake criticized the national leadership of the ADC, headed by National Chairman Senator David Mark and National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, accusing the party’s executive committee of severely neglecting the welfare of its administrative workforce. He argued that a political platform incapable of handling basic operational commitments lacks the credibility required to steer the affairs of the nation.

”We find it unconscionable that a political party making grandiose promises to Nigerians owes its own workers for more than 12 months,” Alake said. “Failing to compensate staff who rely on their monthly earnings for daily sustenance is both irresponsible and reprehensible. A party that cannot manage its internal payroll has no moral ground to request a mandate to govern the country in 2027.”

The ruling party’s campaign council further linked the issue to past administrative records, specifically pointing to Aregbesola’s tenure as governor of Osun State, while taking aim at the leadership framework supporting opposition candidate Atiku Abubakar.

Responding to the allegations on Monday afternoon during a press briefing at the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja, the opposition party rejected the claims, describing them as baseless fabrications designed to divert public attention from pressing economic challenges.

ADC National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi challenged the ruling party to present concrete proof rather than relying on unverified claims. He asserted that the APC’s attack was a deliberate tactic to avoid defending its record on the cost of living, youth unemployment, and national security challenges.

Abdullahi added that the ADC remains fully committed to shifting the 2027 presidential debate toward governance outcomes, economic stabilization, and accountability, emphasizing that the ruling party failed to provide payroll records or documentary evidence to substantiate its claims.

The exchange highlights intensifying political friction between the ruling party and the opposition alliance as both sides position their platforms ahead of the 2027 elections.
