The Executive Secretary of the Ekiti State Agency for Adult and Non-Formal Education (AANFE), Mrs. Modupe Falade, has urged illiterate adults and out-of-school youths across the state to enrol in basic literacy programmes to acquire essential reading, writing, and numeracy skills.
Speaking on Monday, October 26, 2026, during an official address in Ado-Ekiti following the graduation of 76 adult learners from the agency’s learning cycles, Mrs. Falade stressed that acquiring foundational education remains vital to fostering self-reliance, enhancing personal dignity, and improving social well-being.
The executive secretary underscored that acquiring basic literacy skills is not restricted by age, framing learning as a lifelong journey capable of unlocking new economic opportunities for participants. She noted that the state government’s non-formal education frameworks are tailored to provide accessible learning options for traders, artisans, and other working adults seeking to improve their functional skills.
In her appeal, Mrs. Falade called on literate residents, community leaders, and religious organizations across the state’s 16 Local Government Areas to actively encourage illiterate adults, youth, neighbors, and relatives to take advantage of the state-sponsored learning centers.
Prospective learners and interested members of the public can make enquiries and register for ongoing and upcoming training sessions directly at the AANFE Headquarters located within the Ministry of Education Complex in Ado-Ekiti, or through designated Adult Education Offices situated across the various local government headquarters in the state.
