The Taraba State Government has deployed emergency relief materials to Binnari community in Karim Lamido Local Government Area following a violent bandit attack that left over 40 residents dead and thousands displaced.

After heavily armed bandits launched a bloody assault on Binnari village, Karim Lamido LGA, on Friday, October 23, 2026, at approximately 3:00 PM, shortly after residents concluded Jumu’ah prayers. According to eyewitnesses and local community leaders, the assailants arrived on around 50 motorcycles, invading the village from surrounding forest corridors.

The attackers opened fire indiscriminately, set fire to residential houses, looted food stocks and commercial stores, and left a trail of destruction.

While early police reports initially estimated 10 casualties, search-and-recovery operations conducted by local youths in nearby bushes and riverbanks raised the verified death toll to over 40 victims, with several others sustaining severe gunshot injuries. Mass burials were conducted for the deceased over the weekend amidst overwhelming grief.

In response to the humanitarian crisis, the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) dispatched emergency relief convoys to Binnari on Saturday, October 24, 2026, less than 24 hours after the attack.

The intervention team delivered essential food items, clean water, blankets, clothing, and temporary shelter materials to assist thousands of displaced households taking refuge in neighboring communities.

Speaking at the relief distribution venue in Karim Lamido, the Executive Secretary of TSEMA, Echuseh Audu, delivered the official state address;

”As we provide humanitarian support in the form of food and non-food items, I want to counsel the residents of the area to be calm and vigilant, and work closely with security operatives to provide credible information that will assist in halting a recurrence. The Taraba State Government will not abandon you during this trial.” said Echuseh Audu.

State government officials confirmed that joint security detachments, comprising Nigerian Army personnel and Police Mobile Force (PMF) units, have been mobilised to search surrounding forests, track down the fleeing assailants, and prevent further incursions into nearby farming settlements.
