An Osogbo Magistrate Court sitting in Osun State has ordered the remand of two residents, Hassan Adeshina, 38, and Isiaka Mukaila, 20, at the Ilesa Custodial Centre over their alleged involvement in an attack on staff of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC). The order was handed down on Thursday, October 22, 2026, following the arraignment of the defendants before Magistrate O.A. Daramola on a six-count charge.
According to the prosecution led by Police Prosecutor ASP Olayiwola R., the incident occurred at the IBEDC office located in the Oke-Ayepe area of Osogbo. The court heard that the defendants, alongside others currently at large, stormed the utility provider’s premises and violently attacked a female employee, identified as Jimoh Rashidat.
During the assault, the assailants allegedly demanded the revenue realized by the office for the company by force, threatening to inflict severe bodily harm on her if she failed to comply. ASP Olayiwola further stated that the actions of the defendants caused severe pandemonium and a breach of public peace within the Oke-Ayepe locality as they attempted to dispossess the staff of the utility firm’s funds.
The prosecution informed the court that the alleged offenses are punishable under Sections 516, 86(2), 249(D), and 351 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, 2002. In his ruling, Magistrate O.A. Daramola refused bail and ordered that both Hassan Adeshina and Isiaka Mukaila be remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Facility pending trial. The court adjourned the case to December 1, 2026, for further hearing.
