In a dramatic political move ahead of the 2027 general elections, the African Action Congress (AAC) has officially written to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, requesting approval to hold the inauguration ceremony of its Presidential Campaign Council inside the Presidential Villa at Aso Rock, Abuja.

In a letter dated October 21, 2026, signed by the party’s National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, the AAC proposed hosting the ceremony on November 11, 2026, inside the seat of government.

Beyond the request for access to the Presidential Villa, the party asked the Federal Government to provide comprehensive logistical support for 5,000 expected participants arriving from across Nigeria and abroad.

The requested provisions include, provision of food and drinks for all 5,000 delegates and official clearance, security coordination, and facility protocols suitable for a national political event.

Explaining the rationale behind the request, Ikpeminoghena cited recent political engagements hosted at the seat of power by the ruling party. He emphasized that public infrastructure funded by taxpayers must serve all political organizations without partisan discrimination.

”In the spirit of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment of political parties, granting this request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness, equal access, and the principle that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan bias.” Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena stated.

The letter, addressed directly to President Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, requested that the administration clarify any applicable procedures, fees, or administrative conditions necessary for formal approval.

The request comes shortly after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and opposition figures publicly criticized the administration over the recent use of the Presidential Villa for All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign operations.

The AAC led by its presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore and vice-presidential candidate Haruna Magashi, maintained that if the ruling party can utilize federal state infrastructure for political mobilization, opposition parties must be afforded equal access to ensure democratic fairness.

As of publication time, the Presidency and Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga have yet to issue a formal response regarding whether approval or administrative clearance will be granted for the November 11 event.
