In commemoration of World Food Day 2026, the Founder and General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), HRM King Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, has officially flagged off a free school feeding program at the OPM Free Girls Technical College in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The initiative was launched on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the OPM Free Girls Technical College campus in Port Harcourt, joining global efforts led by the United Nations and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to tackle hunger, support vulnerable children, and promote food security through sustainable humanitarian action.
Speaking during the official launch, HRM King Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere stated that the free feeding scheme was designed to cushion the economic burden on parents while ensuring students receive adequate nutrition essential for academic excellence.
”To mark World Food Day 2026, we are joining the United Nations and the Food and Agriculture Organization to ensure that no child goes hungry while seeking an education. Good food is a fundamental right, and by nourishing these young girls, we are building a stronger and self-reliant future for our nation,” Apostle Chinyere emphasized.
Echoing the vision of the church’s leadership, the OPM Welfare Director, Pastor Chinyere Nwogu, noted that the free meal initiative will run seamlessly alongside the existing free tuition, free uniforms, and free learning materials provided across all OPM educational institutions.
Expressing deep appreciation on behalf of the academic staff and students, the Principal of OPM Free Girls Technical College, Mrs. Blessing Ibe, lauded the monarch and cleric for his continuous dedication to empowering young women through free technical education and social welfare programs.
The newly flagged-off program at the girls’ technical college builds upon OPM’s wider social intervention initiatives, which include operating multiple free primary and secondary schools, free multi-skill acquisition centers, free specialist hospitals, and free community restaurants across Nigeria funded entirely through church tithes and offerings.
