The Kebbi State Government has vowed to ensure that those responsible for the killing of the village head of Lafagu in Bagudo Local Government Area, Alhaji Saidu Mujeli, and other residents are brought to justice.
The assurance was given by Gov. Nasir Idris following attacks around Kaoje, particularly in Lafagu and Buya communities, where several residents were killed and others were reportedly displaced. The governor described the incidents as disturbing and barbaric, while expressing concern over the security situation in the affected communities.
Idris condoled with the families of the deceased and other residents affected by the attacks, praying for the repose of the souls of those killed and strength for their families to bear the loss. He also assured residents that the state government would continue to support security agencies in ongoing efforts to restore peace and security to the affected areas.
The governor urged residents to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding, while appealing to community leaders and residents to cooperate with security agencies. He said providing relevant information to authorities would help ongoing efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attacks.
Meanwhile, the Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the attacks and killings, saying some arrests had already been made in connection with the incident.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said investigations were continuing and further details would be released at the appropriate time, adding that the situation in the affected areas was relatively calm, with security personnel maintaining vigilance.
