The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Auwalu Mahmuda, has urged troops to remain vigilant, disciplined and committed to tackling insecurity in their respective Areas of Responsibility (AOR).
Mahmuda gave the advice during an inspection of troop deployments around the Old Oyo National Park in Oyo State. The visit formed part of his wider assessment of formations and units under the division to evaluate their operational readiness and security situation.
During the visit, the GOC inspected the Ilgbeti-Igboho-Sepetari Road in Olorunsogo Local Government Area and received a briefing from the Commanding Officer of 81 Battalion, Lt.-Col. Chiemezie Asogwa. He also visited the headquarters of the 169 Motorcycle Battalion in Ikoyi-Ile and the Abaja Response Area in Oriire Local Government Area. The commanding officers took Mahmuda around the various deployment areas and briefed him on the operational activities and security situation.
Addressing the troops, the GOC urged them to remain alert, disciplined and maintain an aggressive posture in the discharge of their duties.
Mahmuda commended the troops for their efforts in ensuring safety within their areas of responsibility and urged them to continue adhering to the core values of the Nigerian Army.
