The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the university, Mr. Mustapha Ango, stated this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.

“The institution is is particularly appreciative of consistent commitment and tremendous support towards the growth, stability and development of the university.
“Under the purposeful administration of the governor, AFUSTA has witnessed remarkable progress in several areas, particularly in academic development, institutional advancement, staff welfare and operational support”.
According to him, the university community acknowledges that these achievements would not have been possible without the governor’s timely interventions and genuine concern for the advancement of the institution.
“Of particular significance was the release of over half a billion Naira for the successful accreditation of eleven academic programmes, including programmes under the College of Health Sciences.
“The result is outstanding, as all the accredited programmes achieved 100 per cent scores, a remarkable milestone in the history of the university.
“The university also appreciates Gov. Idris for increasing the monthly overhead allocation from ₦5 million to ₦15 million, providing an additional ₦10 million monthly for the management of personnel in the College of Health Sciences, and approving ₦1.5 million monthly to strengthen the University’s security system.
“Equally commendable is the governor’s commitment to staff welfare through the payment of the Consequential Salary Adjustment, implementation of the New National Minimum Wage, CONTISS and CONUASS, as well as the recent approval for the payment of Annual Increment Arrears”.
Ango noted that the interventions had brought significant relief to members of staff and contributed to industrial harmony within the University.
He also disclosed that the administration of Gov. Idris had donated a brand-new Coaster Bus to the University, in addition to appointing the 5th Governing Council to strengthen the institution’s administration and operational capacity.
The PRO explained that the most historic of the interventions was the renaming of the university from Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero (KSUSTA) to Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero (AFUSTA).
He said: “This is not merely a change of name, it is a profound recognition of the legacy of Sheikh Abdullahi ibn Fodio, an internationally renowned scholar, jurist, teacher and intellectual whose contributions to knowledge, scholarship and intellectual development continue to inspire generations.”
Ango stated that the governing council, management, staff and students of AFUSTA deeply appreciated the contributions of Gov. Idris to the repositioning and stabilisation of the University.
He added that Gov. Idris’ interventions had made a meaningful difference in the stability and development of the university, stressing that the management was determined to see AFUSTA emerge as one of the leading universities in Nigeria and beyond.
