Supporters of Chief Adebayo Adelabu, former Minister of Power, in the Ibadan South East Local Government Area of Oyo State, have restated their commitment to the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general elections.
The party faithful stormed the State Secretariat of the APC on Friday to pledge their loyalty.
They urged the public to disregard the wrong impression being created in the social media space about a planned defection to the Allied People’s Movement (APM).
The supporters claimed that Chief Bayo Adelabu himself had come out to clarify that he remains in the APC.
The leader of the team, Mr. Yusuf Bankole, urged members of the general public to ignore the fake news regarding the Adelabu Political Group joining the APM.
“The rumour is not only false, but it is also offensive, ill-motivated, and condemnable.
“We, the supporters of Chief Bayo Adelabu in Ibadan South East Local Government Area, remain as solid as a rock in our great party, the APC.
“We have no cause to defect to the APM or any other political party for that matter,”he said.
Bankole added, “We got the blessing of most of our leaders to visit the State Secretariat today with a view to meeting the leadership of the party to state our position, since some people have been spreading unfounded rumours regarding our status in the APC.
“As a matter of fact, we are not considering moving away from the APC. Instead, we are ready to work assiduously to ensure victory for all the candidates of our party in the upcoming polls.”
The APC State Chairman, Chief Moses Adeyemo, in his remarks, expressed delight at the decision of the members to visit the State Secretariat at the appropriate time.
“You did the right thing by coming out to tell the whole world that you are real progressives and patriots.
“The primaries have come and gone, and our attention has now shifted to reconciliation, recalibration, and the renewal of zeal.
“To this end, we are appealing to all APC faithful to give room for peace, love, and unity among ourselves,”Adeyemo said.
“Campaigns have started, and we will not leave any stone unturned to ensure that the Renewed Hope Agenda messages reach everyone with a view to winning their trust and confidence.
“APC is the party to beat, and this explains why those that matter in the opposition parties are joining us every day.
“Our goals remain intact; we have to win all the elective posts in 2027, and doing so will guarantee success for all our candidates,”Adeyemo added.
Notable party leaders who led the team during the visit include; Chief Lukman Ayantola, Alhaji Rasheed Agarawu, Rev. John Ige, Alhaji Mojeed Agbaje, Mr. Sunmbo Oladiti, Mrs. Adeniyi Taiwo, and Alhaji Ayodele Oseni.
The Oyo APC Executive Committee members, who received them were: Hon. Fatai Adesina, Mr. Sunday Aborisade, Hon. Tunde Elegbede, and Hon. Olawale Sadare.
