First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu arrived in Anambra State on Thursday, September 10, 2026, for a high-profile one-day working visit aimed at launching critical development projects, nutrition drives, and economic empowerment initiatives across the state.
​The First Lady’s aircraft touched down at approximately 11:31 a.m. at the Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, where she was received by Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo; his wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo; Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim; and other top state government officials amidst vibrant cultural performances.
​The multi-location itinerary spans key venues across the state to inaugurate key social interventions, digital infrastructure, and poverty-alleviation programmes:
The First Lady commissioned a state-of-the-art Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Experience Centre funded by TETFund. The facility is designed to bridge the digital divide by training local youth in software development, data analytics, and digital marketing.
Senator Tinubu officially launched the South-East Zone of the National Community Food Bank Programme. Driven in part by the Renewed Hope Initiative and supported by the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, the programme targets vulnerable demographics, including widows, persons with disabilities, nursing mothers, and malnourished children with targeted food supplies and nutrition education.
At the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, the presidential entourage flagged off a statewide empowerment drive in partnership with Dr. Nonye Soludo’s local initiatives. Over 5,000 beneficiaries across Anambra’s 21 Local Government Areas received enterprise tools, including sewing machines, refrigerators, and agricultural processing equipment.
​Highlighting the importance of the visit, the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, noted that the joint interventions underscore a commitment to sustainable human development.
​”This visit essentially underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusive development under the Renewed Hope Agenda, demonstrating that no state or zone is left behind,” Dr. Mefor stated. “From bridging the digital gap for our youth at Oko to supporting vulnerable families through the Food Bank and enterprise tools, these initiatives complement the state’s vision for long-term self-reliance.”
​Additionally, Dr. Samuel Obasi, the South-East Regional Director of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, emphasised the health impacts of the food bank program, noting that the regional distribution network starting at the Amawbia Primary Health Centre will specifically target severe and moderate acute malnutrition among mothers and young children across the state’s senatorial districts.
