As public and private primary and secondary schools across Ogun State prepare to resume for the 2026/2027 academic session, the Ogun State Police Command has deployed officers of its specialized School Protection Squad across the state.
​The security operation, announced on Monday, September 7, 2026, aims to bolster police presence around learning institutions, protect pupils, teachers, and school infrastructure, and ensure rapid responses to emerging security threats.
​According to an official press statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the initiative directly aligns with the strategic policing agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, which focuses on proactive, preventive, and community-oriented policing nationwide.
​The deployment follows a strategic stakeholder meeting held recently at the Police Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta. During the session, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, hosted an executive delegation of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Safe School Club, led by its State Chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Babatunde Lawal.
​Discussions centered on developing multi-stakeholder collaboration among law enforcement, school administrators, parents, students, and local residents for the early identification, reporting, and prevention of security risks within school zones.
​Addressing officers and stakeholders, CP Bode Ojajuni charged members of the School Protection Squad to maintain high vigilance, foster close engagements with local school administrators, and act swiftly on actionable intelligence.
​”The Command remains committed to anticipating threats, preventing incidents, and providing swift protective intervention whenever necessary,” Ojajuni stated.
​The Police Command urged members of the public to strictly adhere to the security campaign slogan, “See Something, Say Something,” advising residents not to ignore suspicious individuals, vehicles, or movements around learning facilities.
