Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the National Speaker of the Women Parliament of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ambassador Hajiya Sa’adatu Abdullahi, has called on women leaders across Nigeria to intensify grassroots mobilisation, build functional party structures, and drive electoral strategy.

Speaking on Friday, August 28, 2026, during a strategic meeting with state women leaders in Abuja, Abdullahi emphasized that political victory cannot be achieved through passive involvement, but requires deliberate strategy, sacrifice, and strong grassroots organisation.

”Our strength is in our unity, our power is in our organisation, and our weapon is our determination. We must organize, mobilize, and deliver results,” Abdullahi stated.

This meeting gives us an opportunity to assess where we are, identify our weaknesses, strengthen our structures, and develop practical strategies for taking the SDP message to every ward, community, and household.”

State leaders were directed to return to their respectives states and establish active, functional party structures down to the polling unit level.

Representing the SDP leadership at the event, the South-South Deputy Chairman, Senator Ugochukwu Uba, announced that the party’s forthcoming manifesto will guarantee 50% representation for women in all government appointments and party structures.

National Secretary of the SDP, Dr. Olu Agunloye, confirmed that the party’s election manifesto is finalized and scheduled for public unveiling within days.

Senator Uba reaffirmed that the party’s presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, is actively championing women-inclusive policies across the country.

Abdullahi concluded by charging delegates to put aside internal differences, operate with strict discipline, and act as the core pillars of the SDP’s national campaign.
