In a major political mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections, the leadership of the Democratic Congress (NDC) has finalised arrangements for its presidential candidate, His Excellency Peter Obi, and his running mate, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to lead an estimated two million supporters in a massive solidarity rally across the Uyo metropolis on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

The high-stakes political gathering is designed to consolidate grassroots support across the South-South geopolitical zone while energising citizens around themes of economic recovery, good governance, and voter participation ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle.

According to the official itinerary released by the organising committee, the day’s activities will commence at 8:00 AM West Africa Time with an assembly and procession beginning at the Plaza Roundabout in Uyo City Centre.

From there, supporters and affiliated movement groups will march through designated corridors toward the Aka Road axis and the precinct of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, where the main rally and addresses will take place.

Speaking during a pre-rally media briefing in Uyo, the State Director of the Obidient Movement and NDC Mobilization Committee in Akwa Ibom State, Benjamin Smith, confirmed that all logistics and security frameworks have been established to ensure an orderly event.

”This solidarity march represents a unified call for accountable leadership and structural change,” Smith stated. “We are urging all participants to conduct themselves peacefully, adhere strictly to security directives, and demonstrate that the populace is fully prepared to defend its democratic aspirations.”

Echoing those sentiments, the state coalition’s media coordinator, Tony Anichebe, underscored that the rally doubles as a civic awakening to boost voter registration and political engagement throughout Akwa Ibom State.

”Our message to the public is clear: citizens must actively engage to overcome prevailing economic challenges and ensure that every vote counts in 2027,” Anichebe said. “Uyo is fully prepared to demonstrate unalloyed solidarity for the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket.”

Both Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso are expected to deliver keynote addresses focusing on national unity, youth employment, and regional economic revitalization as the coalition expands its footprint across the nation.
