​A correspondent with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ms Ibironke Ariyo, alongside 282 personnel, individuals, and partner organisations, has received formal recognition from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for outstanding contributions to the country’s anti-narcotics campaign.
​The honours were conferred by the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, during the 12th edition of the agency’s Chief Executive’s Awards and Recognition Ceremony held in Abuja. Marwa commended the awardees for their dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to disrupting illicit drug trafficking networks and promoting public awareness across the nation.
​Speaking at the event, Marwa emphasised that the annual ceremony was established to foster a culture of excellence, courage, and accountability among officers and external partners fighting substance abuse. He noted that behind the award statistics are compelling real-life stories of intelligence gathering, persistence in difficult terrain, and inter-agency collaboration aimed at reclaiming the country from the grip of drug abuse.
​The NDLEA boss highlighted major operational milestones achieved by the agency, including joint international operations that dismantled transnational syndicates such as the Amadi Simon cartel. He also acknowledged the indispensable role played by media professionals and partner organisations in amplifying the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign and fostering community-led prevention.
​The event reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to combining rigorous law enforcement with public education, rehabilitation, and preventive advocacy. Recipients expressed gratitude for the recognition, pledging continued dedication to securing a drug-free society and supporting national security objectives
