The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) officially launched its campaign for the upcoming September 26 Enugu State Local Government elections on Wednesday morning, rallying thousands of supporters at a high-energy campaign flag-off in Ndeaboh, the headquarters of Aninri Local Government Area.
​The event, which commenced at 10:00 AM at the Aninri LGA Civic Center Field, drew party loyalists, community leaders, trade union representatives, and enthusiastic local residents from across all 10 political wards in the council area.
​Addressing the crowd, the NDC Chairmanship Candidate for Aninri LGA, Hon. Chinedu Nnamani, pledged a new era of grassroots development, prioritizing rural infrastructure, youth empowerment, and enhanced primary healthcare across the local council.
​”Our campaign is anchored on direct accountability and sustainable economic growth for every community in Aninri. The massive turnout today demonstrates that our people are ready for practical, inclusive leadership,” Nnamani stated during his address.
​Key political figures and party executives present at the rally included; Dr. Emeka Okoh, Enugu State NDC Chairman, who formally presented the party’s flag to the chairmanship candidate and vice-chairmanship candidate, Mrs. Ifeoma Edeh.
Chief Aloysius Chukwu, NDC Zonal Coordinator (Enugu West), who urged electoral officers and security personnel to ensure a transparent electoral process and Comrade Uchenna Egbo, NDC Youth Leader, who mobilized local youth groups and emphasized peace and voter education ahead of the polls.
​Party leaders outlined a two-week ward-to-ward campaign tour across major communities in Aninri, including Mpu, Oduma, Okpanku, and Nenwe, before expanding campaign operations into neighboring local government areas.
​With the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) slating the council polls for Saturday, September 26, 2026, the NDC’s strong showing in Aninri sets an aggressive tone for the remaining campaign cycle.
