The Supreme Knight of the Honoured Order of the Knights of St Mulumba Nigeria, Sir Steve Adehi, SAN, CKSM, KCSS, has felicitated with the Youths of St Mulumba on this year’s World Youth Day as he calls on them to use their youthful energy for the service of the Order, the Church, Humanity and the Lord.
According to him, Youths of St Mulumba should use their energy, zeal and devotion to sustain the continuity and relevance of the Order in a rapidly changing world. He reminded them that, “you are not accidental members of this noble fraternity; you are its deliberate inheritance and the bridge between our cherished past and our envisioned tomorrow.”
Sir Adehi, SAN, reminded the Youths of St Mulumba that KSM Nigeria was built on the pillars of Catholic faith, Charity, Unity and fraternal love adding that “these pillars now rest, in large measure, on your shoulders. You are the future leaders, the future Knights and Ladies and indeed the future face of this Order.”
The Supreme Knight defines the World Youth Day as “a sacred moment of reflection which carries a profound and particular significance, an invitation to look inward and upward to examine the depth of your faith, the strength of your character and the clarity of your purpose.”
The Supreme Knight reminded the youths that they stand at a strategic crossroads and that the World Youth Day provides them an opportunity for self-examination by asking themselves the following pertinent questions: “am I ready to carry the torch? Am I prepared to defend the faith, serve the less privileged and uphold the honor of St Mulumba in a world increasingly hostile to our values?”
Sir Adehi, SAN reminded the youths that the responsibility ahead of them are onerous and the challenges real. He called on them to brace up to face the challenges pointing out that “the secular pressures of modern society, the erosion of moral absolutes and the distractions of a digital age will test your resolve. But I remind you: you were chosen for such a time as this.”
The Supreme Knight assured the youths that the same Spirit that animated the apostles at Pentecost is available to them today while the same courage that sustained the founding fathers of KSM Nigeria today in the midst of adversity will now animate their generation so that they can sustain the fight against the ills of the society as their forebears did.
In the words of the Supreme Knight, “Brace up dear youths. Embrace the discipline of prayer, the pursuit of knowledge and the practice of virtue. Seek mentorship, build authentic friendship, and cultivate the leadership qualities that will one day position you not merely as members but as pillars and defenders of this Order. The face of St Mulumba tomorrow will look very much like the choices you make today”.
The Worthy Supreme Knight assures the youths that as they celebrate this year’s World Youth Day, that the entire membership of the Knights of St Mulumba Nigeria stands with them in prayers and solidarity adding that KSM sees their potentials. “We believe in your capacity. And we entrust to you, with confidence, the sacred duty of ensuring that the light of St Mulumba burns even brighter in the generations to come,” Sir Adehi added.
He further prayed that the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother and Patroness of St Mulumba Nigeria, and St Mulumba the Heavenly Patron of KSM should inspire the youths while the Holy Spirit guides their steps towards a future of faith, honor and service. The World Youth Day is an annual event which seeks to bring Catholic Youths together in prayer and supplication.
