The dismissal, issued under Presidential Decree No. 696/2026, concludes Stefanishyna’s nearly year-long tenure in Washington after her appointment in August 2025. In a statement published on Facebook, Stefanishyna stated that stepping down was “driven by personal circumstances” and was her own decision, noting she had previously informed the president of her intent to step aside.
Stefanishyna highlighted her team’s efforts in securing crucial American defense assistance, stating, “We boosted the supply of American weapons and maintained support right when the political climate in Washington was changing.”
