Hensard University Law Students shine, win prizes at LegalBee competition

Law students from Hensard University, the first private university in Bayelsa State, have won a host of awards and cash prizes at the LegalBee Competition, organised by Spelling Bee Bayelsa State in collaboration with the Niger Delta chapter of the Law Students’ Association (LAWSA).

The competition, which took place at Niger Delta University (NDU) in Bayelsa State, saw the Hensard contingent emerge among the top performers.

Elijah Christian Fanikimi, President of LAWSA at Hensard University, emerged as the first runner-up, while Ibu Reality Isaiah and Elijah Favour Folashade jointly took fourth place. David Otilo finished in fifth place.

In the Best Diction category, Isokariri Oburu David, Senate President of LAWSA at Hensard University, claimed the award, while the Most Outstanding Speller prize was jointly won by Ibu Reality Isaiah and Elijah Christian Fanikimi.

Commending the students, the Vice-Chancellor of Hensard University, Professor Sudakhar Kota, charged them to aim for further laurels. He reiterated that the university is dedicated to providing high-quality education across a wide range of disciplines, with a commitment to academic excellence, practical skills, entrepreneurship, innovation and holistic development.

Professor Kota added that the university strives to prepare students for successful careers and lifelong learning through its dual certification and partnerships with universities and institutions across the world, offering a diverse range of programmes.

He further stated that Hensard University aims to empower students to make a positive impact in their chosen fields and in society as a whole.
