A fire broke out at the headquarters of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) in Abuja affecting parts of the building before emergency responders brought the situation under control.
The incident happened on Saturday night, at the bank’s head office in the Central Business District of Abuja.
According to reports, flames were seen in the upper section of the building, leading to concerns as the fire spread within parts of the structure.
Officials of the Federal Mortgage Bank later confirmed that the fire affected sections of the second floor of the building.
They said firefighters from the Federal Fire Service and the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service responded quickly to the emergency and succeeded in containing the blaze before it spread further.
The bank also confirmed that no lives were lost and no injuries were recorded during the incident.
Security agencies, including the police, assisted emergency responders in handling the situation.
The bank disclosed that investigations have begun to determine what triggered the incident.
FMBN said a comprehensive report on the extent of the damage will be released after the ongoing assessment is completed.
The bank also appreciated the prompt response of the fire services, the police and members of the public who showed concern following the incident.
